Hey, You!

Yes YOU.

Are you supposed to be getting work done?

Do you have a task list of a thousand things you should probably get to?

Do you get easily distracted by the internet and a bunch of other things that kinda feel like work, sorta?

Do you find yourself picking up your phone for a perfectly fine reason only to surface twenty minutes later, deep in TikTok, with no memory of why you reached for it?

Are you sitting in front of a screen?

Two screens?

Five screens?

You poor bastard.

Look. Put at least one of those screens to work with Currently — your new companion for actually getting things done.

Unlike you, Currently has ONE job. To remind you what you are currently supposed to be working on.
It sits there, in the corner of your eye — on an adjacent screen, on your lock screen, on an old iOS device you have lying around. It looks lovely. It pulses and shifts color every now and again, not enough to be annoying, just enough to subtly remind you that YOU ARE DOING THIS THING.

When you finish a task, you change it. It updates. You do the next task. That’s the whole app.

Add the widget to your home screen. Add it to your lock screen. Run it on every device you own. Update once, Currently updates everywhere. Every screen you pick up will remind you what you’re DOING RIGHT NOW.

Surround yourself with old devices, all silently nagging you to GET SHIT DONE.

If your device is fancy enough to run Apple Intelligence, Currently will use it to throw you a few tips when your diligence wavers. If it isn’t, you’ll get “Currently Intelligence” instead, which is a collection of tips we wrote down. Both work. Neither will replace willpower, but they’ll give you something to read other than your group chat.

Currently quietly tracks how long you’ve spent on each task — so when you tell yourself “this’ll only take ten minutes,” there will eventually be evidence. It pulls in your calendar too, because somebody who likes wasting more than just their own time has invited you to a meeting, and Currently might as well know about it.

At the end of every day and every week, you get a report. Where you were. When you were focused. What you actually did, versus what you told yourself you were doing.

All of this is free. Forever. No subscription. No “limited free tier.”

The whole app.

If you want more, there’s Currently Plus. Fifteen bucks, once, yours forever. It adds a Watch app, a Mac OS menu bar thingy, proper goal tracking, and a few other useful things. Scroll down a bit if you care.

That’s pretty much it. There is no Pro tier coming. There will not be a subscription next year. You buy it once and you own it.

Currently probably won’t fix you. You will still get distracted. You will still sadly scroll instagram and feel bad watching other people’s amazing lives. You will still spend forty minutes choosing a font.

But maybe — you’ll do it slightly less often. And when you make it back, there’ll be a quiet little screen in the corner of your eye, telling you what you were doing before all this happened.

Now get back to work.

FAQ

Questions you might have.

What is this?

It's a simple app to remind you what you're supposed to be doing. In the old days, I used to make a powerpoint called "Currently.ppt" and I'd have the slide up on a second monitor while I worked to remind me what I was actually trying to do. 20 years later, I built the full version.

So that's it?

Pretty much. It pulses and changes color to subtly remind you to stay on task. It gives you some great tips on how to get your task done. As you get more stuff done, currently tracks how long you've worked on each task. At the end of the day, and the week, you get a report showing you where your time went.

How do I use it?

Run the app on a second screen, an old phone you have lying around, or put a widget on your ipad or desktop. Just have it in your eyeline somewhere. Then get back to work.

But...Why?

Because the world is trying to distract you from doing things, and it sucks. Other Productivity apps want to organize your whole crazy life, but it's the doing of things that actually make you productive. Currently wants you to do one thing.

Do it.

Is it really free?

Yes. The free version is a real app, not a trial. Give it a go, and if it helps at all, awesome!

What’s in Currently Plus then?

Currently Plus adds support for more devices, the ability to get more detailed reports, and some power toys to help customise the app. See above for the detail.

Will there be a subscription?

No. There will not be a subscription. There will not be a Pro tier. There will not be a Currently Enterprise. That stuff sucks. It's just a one off bundle of features.

Which devices?

For free users, iPhone, iPad, Mac(via Catalyst).
Plus adds a native Mac OS menu bar, support for Apple Watch and Apple TV.
(In theory you could also run on Vision Pro via Catalyst, if you’re the kind of rich maniac who has one of those.)

Where does my data live?

In your iCloud. Not in ours, because there isn't one. There is no Currently server. We do not have your task history, because we never see it.

Will Currently help me manage all my tasks?

No. You're a grown-up, you figure out what needs to be done. Currently just helps you stick to it.

What about Family Sharing?

On. Buy Plus once, your whole household has it.

Can I get this on Android or Windows?

No.

Privacy

Privacy.

Currently has no backend. There is no Currently server, no analytics, no tracking, no account. Your task history is stored in your private iCloud database, which we cannot read. The app talks to Apple’s servers and nothing else. We collect no data because there is nowhere for the data to go.

If you delete the app, your data goes with it (or stays in your iCloud, depending on your iCloud settings — that’s between you and Apple).
